Information We Collect

Audio Recordings

• What: Voice recordings you create within the app
• How it's used: Sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription
• Storage: Audio is processed in real-time and is NOT stored on our servers. After transcription, audio data is discarded.

Transcribed Notes

• What: Text transcriptions of your voice recordings
• Storage: Saved directly to YOUR device and your local Obsidian vault. We do NOT store your notes on any external server.

Device Information

• What: Device type, operating system version, app version
• Purpose: Crash reporting and app performance optimization
• Collected by: Sentry (error monitoring)

Usage Analytics

• What: Anonymous usage patterns (screens viewed, features used, session duration)
• Purpose: Improve app experience and identify issues
• Collected by: PostHog
• Note: No personal content from your notes is collected

Purchase Information

• What: Subscription status, purchase history, transaction IDs
• Purpose: Manage your subscription and unlock premium features
• Collected by: RevenueCat
• Note: We never see your payment details (credit card, etc.)

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do NOT read, access, or store your existing Obsidian vault contents
• We do NOT collect the content of your transcribed notes
• We do NOT store your voice recordings after transcription
• We do NOT collect your name, email, or personal identifiers (unless you contact support)
• We do NOT sell any data to third parties

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

• All notes are stored locally on your device
• Notes sync directly to your Obsidian vault folder
• We use write-only access — we cannot read your existing files

API Keys

• If you provide your own OpenAI API key, it is stored securely on your device using encrypted storage
• Your API key is never transmitted to our servers

No Cloud Storage

• We do not operate cloud servers that store your data
• Your notes never leave your device except during transcription

Your Rights and Choices

Data Control

• Delete notes: Delete any note directly from your Obsidian vault
• Uninstall: Removing the app deletes all local app data
• API key: Remove your API key anytime in Settings

Data Access

• Request a copy of any data we have about you
• Request deletion of your data from our third-party services
• Contact us to opt out of anonymous analytics

Children's Privacy

Obsidian Voice is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and displaying a notice within the app for significant changes.
